Radio Nigeria at 75: Viewpoints on Jide Ojo
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria
clocked 75 years on April 1, 2026. As one of the content providers for the
station for over twenty years, I decided to do a vox pop targeting
producers, presenters and some selected management staff of the station that I
have interacted with over the years. The intent is to gauge their thoughts on
my style of analysis. The simple question I asked all of them is “FRCN just
celebrated 75th anniversary of its establishment. I have been a resource person
for the organisation for over twenty years. How will you rate my analysis?”.
Here are the responses I got so far:
1.
“Indeed,
your analysis and discussion have amazingly contributed towards the
socio-economic and political development of the country. Very good 👍 Thank you.” - Sani Suleiman Masun
Wunti, former Director News FRCN.
2.
“Your
inputs have been helpful in shaping public opinion and in awakening state
actors to the need for people-oriented governance. Thank you for always
granting us access whenever we call. We truly appreciate your openness and
support. God bless you.” – Dayo Adu, Controller News, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal
Station
3.
“Excellent
👌👍”
– Jeremiah Jime, Presenter, Radio Nigeria Headquarters
4.
“Top-notch.
You're sound and grounded. You have a grip on what you churn out on air and not
just on the airwaves of Radio Nigeria, because I also watch and listen to you
on other TV and radio stations. I read your write-ups (in The PUNCH) as well,
so, I know what I'm talking about.” – Emilia Ojemudia, Manager News, FRCN,
Ibadan Zonal Station
5.
“Awesome
Sir👍💯”
– Sandra Chukwugekwu, Producer, FRCN HQ
6.
“To
be candid, your contributions have been insightful and well thought out. Your opinions
can be relied on as truly independent and always spiced with
recommendations/suggestions. Cheers to many more years of service to
fatherland.” – Biodun Dare, formerly of Radio Nigeria HQ.
7.
“Rating
your contributions to an organisation as venerable as the Federal Radio
Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) requires looking at the intersection of
professional endurance and the specific role of a "resource person"
within the Nigerian media landscape. To have served as a regular analyst and
expert for over two decades roughly a quarter of the corporation's entire
75-year history is a landmark achievement.
1. A twenty-year tenure means your analysis isn't just based on current
events; it is rooted in context. You have provided commentary through multiple
transitions of government, various economic cycles. 2. ln the media industry,
"resource persons" are only invited back if they are reliable,
articulate, and most importantly trusted by the audience. 3. Given your focus on areas like national
governance, your analysis likely bridges the gap between complex policy and the
common man. For an organization like the FRCN, which has a mandate to
"uplift the people and unite the nation," the ability to break down
the National Development Plan into digestible radio commentary is a rare skill
set. 4. your analysis likely serves as a
primary source of information for millions of listeners across the country. By
providing expert queries on executive activities. If one were to grade your
contributions, you aren't just an observer of history; your analysis has helped
document and shape the Nigerian narrative during a period of immense national
transformation” – Zacheus Babalola, Deputy Director News / State House
Correspondent, FRCN Headquarters.
8.
“Well-done
Asorogbayi of our time. There's no doubt about it, you are an excellent, very
superb, and versatile resource person. Your consistency and commitment to the
course of Nigeria is not in doubt. Even without being paid, you are ready
always. Thank you for your contributions to the media industry in the country.
Yours is genuine love for broadcasting. Your unbiased analysis and judgement on
issues even in Yoruba language is top notch. More grace and sound health. Kudos
Sir.” – Remi Okunoye, FRCN Language (Yoruba)
9.
“You're
superb, excellent and resourceful guest number 1 on any issue of public
significance. Personality like you need to be specially identifed and rewarded
as part of the activities marking the 75th anniversary.” – Anonymous.
10. “A LEGACY OF INSIGHT AND INTEGRITY.
As the Federal Radio Corporation of
Nigeria celebrates 75 years of remarkable broadcasting service, it is important
to recognise individuals whose intellect and consistency have helped shape its
credibility and public trust. One of such distinguished voices is Jide Ojo, a
seasoned analyst and long-standing resource person whose relationship with FRCN
spans over two decades. Jide Ojo’s analysis stands out for its depth, balance,
and clarity. He possesses a unique ability to break down complex national issues
into perspectives that are both understandable and enlightening. His approach
is measured, his tone is thoughtful, and his delivery is grounded in facts
rather than sentiment.
In a media space often challenged by
bias and sensationalism, his voice has remained steady, anchored on
objectivity, fairness, and truth. He does not merely comment on events; he
interprets them with insight, offering listeners a broader understanding of the
issues that shape society. For over twenty years, his consistency has built not
just familiarity, but trust. His presence on FRCN platforms reflects a
reputation earned through discipline, credibility, and a strong commitment to
responsible analysis. His contributions go beyond words; they represent a
standard. A standard of integrity. A standard of professionalism. A standard
that inspires both current and future broadcasters to uphold the true essence
of public communication. As FRCN marks this milestone, the story of Jide Ojo
serves as a powerful reminder that the strength of any great institution lies
in the integrity of the voices it amplifies. Let this be in the sand if time.”

analyst, but an unshakable pillar of the organisation and that individual with
a topnotch sectoral analysis and the Midas touch to always want you back. You
are made for that consistent solution to broadcasters when everything hangs in
the balance and the centre looks imminent to collapse. You and your
contribution to broadcasting cannot be simply described in a hurry, because
your sacrifices would continue to resonate in the history of the media and
relevance in everyday broadcasting even after long you have gone!!!” – Abubakar

especially as Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria marks its 75th anniversary.
Serving as a resource person for over twenty years is not easy, it reflects
deep experience, consistency, and relevance in your field. First, longevity in
such role as a resource person shows that your analysis has remained credible
and trusted over time. Media institutions like FRCN tend to retain voices that
demonstrate accuracy, balance, and insight, particularly in a complex
environment like Nigeria’s socio-political and economic landscape. Your
sustained engagement indicates adaptability. Over two decades, Nigeria has gone
through major transitions democratic consolidation, economic reforms and
security challenges. Remaining relevant through all these suggests your
analysis has evolved with changing realities rather than remaining static. your
contribution carries public impact. Being a resource person means your
perspectives have helped shaped public understanding, inform discourse, and
influence policy conversations. I personally met you in 2016 when I newly
joined FRCN and I would rate your analysis as highly credible, experienced, and
socially relevant, with the kind of depth that only long-term engagement can
produce. Today I say thank you for always sharing your thoughts and allowing us
draw from your well of knowledge. Thank you.” - Chiamaka Afamefula-Anih,

24. “Within the 75-year legacy history, of
FRCN, Mr. Jide Ojo stands out for his impactful contributions to FRCN’s news
and programmes, spanning more than two decades. Jide Ojo is widely recognised
as a consistent voice on governance, civic responsibility, and democratic
development on Radio Nigeria. I call him
a friend of Radio Nigeria because he has been one of the dependable content
providers who has stood with FRCN through thick and thin all these years to the
extent that he could make it to any programme within short notice without any
incentives from the corporation. As a
public affairs analyst, commentator, and as a guest on numerous news and
programmes of FRCN such as Politics Nationwide, Radio Link, Africa this Week,
Issues of the Moment, among others, Mr Ojo has carved a niche for himself due
to the professional and objective manner of his contributions to national

been a guest discussant on major news bulletins of Radio Nigeria at 7am, 4pm
